This is so utterly outrageous and so unfair! Families' decision to bring children to the world should not be financed by the rest of us. That has to be a thought and planned decision. If you cannot afford it, do not impose that burden onto other taxpayers who have no say in the matter. And yes, it is simply a political manoeuvre to buy votes. This government has got to go!

We might as well call it what it is, more appeasement to try to secure the Muslim vote, which is going to the insane Green Party anyway.

I'm sure if you look at those families who benefit from the policy vs the politics they support, they are more likely to be left-leaning.

"This is a transfer — from those paying into the system, to those receiving more from it." Nonsense. What we use for money is Govt IOUs. To get it, Govt passes a Supply & Appropriation Bill (read about them in Hansard) & under the 1866 Exchequer & Audit Depts Act (try Googling!) the BoE creates the money ex nihilo as instructed. All social security payments, all Govt spending in fact, is created this way. Any suggestion that taxpayers pay for social security is divisive nonsense.

Get as many dependant on the state as possible. Buy votes. Incite riots.

One of the best government initiatives was the Sure Start scheme. Got good results - they stopped it.

Peak madness surely must be near?
